Chia seeds are used as an additional ingredient and fibre. They are also used as substitute for egg and margerine or as gelling agent for pudding and sauces.
Chia seeds are superfood, which event the Mayas used as tonic. They are rich in dietary fibres and omega 3. They are to be used as the source of protein, as they themselves consists of approx. 20% of proteins.

According to the Novel Food Regulation (2013/50/EU) for chia seeds (Salvia Hispanica) the daily consumption do not exceed more than 15g each person..
